Frequently Asked Questions About Our Therapy and Coaching Services
What is experiential therapy?
Experiential therapy supports change by helping people connect with meaningful emotional experiences that shape their core beliefs about themselves and others. Instead of only talking through problems, it encourages individuals to express and process feelings in the moment, which can bring deeper beliefs to the surface. As these beliefs are explored, clients can begin to reshape them through new, healthier emotional experiences, leading to greater self-understanding and healing.
This approach is often preferred over methods that rely heavily on tools or surface-level strategies because it addresses the root of the issue rather than just managing symptoms. When therapy focuses only on controlling or avoiding distress, those symptoms may return, especially under stress. Experiential therapy, by contrast, helps transform the underlying emotional patterns driving those symptoms, which can lead to more lasting change and reduce the likelihood of relapse.
What can I expect during my first session?
If you are seeking therapy as an individual, we dive into the main issues immediately. My goal is to help you get to where you want to be right away. In the first session, we will discuss what you want out of therapy, identify a focus, and begin exploring core beliefs that keep you stuck in patterns that are not bringing you joy. You will always go at your own pace, but expect the first session to be impactful.
However, other treatment modalities such as PCIT involve a structured evaluation where you will be asked questions about your child's development, education, medical history, and so forth to ensure PCIT is the best form of treatment for you and your child. The first session is known as an intake and involves the parents only.

Do you accept insurance?

We also work with self-pay therapy and coaching clients who would prefer not to use their insurance. Please reach out with any questions. If you have insurance, click here to schedule a consultation or your first appointment.
Why do some people choose not to use their insurance?
People often choose not to use health insurance for therapy to prioritize privacy, avoid mandatory mental health diagnoses, and ensure greater freedom in choosing providers and treatment methods. While insurance can reduce costs, it often imposes limitations on care and requires documentation that becomes part of a permanent medical record.
How do I know if therapy or coaching is right for me?
If you are experiencing challenges that affect your well-being or personal growth, therapy or coaching may be beneficial. We encourage you to reach out for a consultation to explore what approach suits your individual situation best.
Is confidentiality guaranteed in therapy and coaching sessions?
Yes, confidentiality is a core principle of our practice. We adhere to strict ethical guidelines to ensure that what you share in sessions remains private, with few legal exceptions.
